Bryce Wood, MS
Doctoral Practicum STudent
My therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Theory and incorporates aspects of Psychodynamic and Person-Centered theories. Foundational in my work is the exploration of the connection between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. As my clients develop an increased understanding of these connections in their inner world, I help them begin to identify and practice strategies to support change and growth in their day-to-day life. I strive to help us build a lens of curiosity toward our past experiences and how they shape the ways we approach life and cope with change and challenge.
These past experiences and the way we interact and engage with our thoughts are often directly related to addiction and substance use. Through exploration of these past experiences and current thoughts, we can identify potential patterns and work to shift these to create lasting change. Often, I work with clients navigating the intersection of addiction and the impacts of depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health symptoms. My time in the Air Force solidified a passion for serving veterans, and my work with the Tactical Air Control Party special warfare members strengthened my interest in working with clients seeking performance and sport psychology services as well.
I place a strong emphasis on collaboration. From my first session with a client, I focus on exploring my client’s hopes and goals and begin to create a plan to support the changes they envision for themselves. I aim to foster a setting grounded in empathy, respect, and warmth with each of my clients.
I completed my master’s degree in psychology from Arizona State University and am currently pursuing my Doctor of Psychology degree (PsyD) from Augsburg University. Most recently, I worked as a practicum therapist at Faribault correctional facility providing psychological assessments to individuals who were incarcerated. At Club Recovery I serve as a mental providers offering individual therapy services.
