Training Opportunities


Club Recovery offers a variety of clinical training opportunities for students in professional psychology and addiction studies as well as early career professionals seeking hours for licensure. Club Recovery’s training program specializing in IOP addiction treatment is offered in partnership with Slate, our clinic that offers broad outpatient mental health services. This partnership provides interested students a blended training experience in IOP and outpatient services.


Positions Offered

  • Practicum Positions  
    • Master’s (LPC, LPCC, Dual-track LPCC/LADC) students in counseling and clinical psychology programs. 
    • Doctoral (PhD, PsyD) students in counseling or clinical psychology programs.  
    • LADC students in addiction studies programs.  
  • Fellowship Positions 
    • Post-Doctoral Fellowship. Individuals who have earned their PhD or PsyD and need to earn their hours for licensure. 
    • Post-Master’s Fellowship. Individuals who have earned their master’s degree in counseling or clinical psychology and need to earn their hours for licensure. 

Training Model and Philosphy

Club Recovery is committed to facilitating trainee’s personal and professional growth through engagement in supportive and stimulating supervision and mentoring relationships. The training curriculum follows a developmental-relational model that is tailored to the needs of each trainee. Areas of focus for training include clinical and case conceptualization skills, multicultural competency, professional clinical documentation, multidisciplinary collaboration, professional identity development, and enhancing self-awareness as a therapist. The staff is invested in creating a warm and collegial culture, with a strong commitment to an open-door policy, which affords opportunities to trainees to consult with our multidisciplinary staff.


Practicum Program

Our small clinic setting allows us to tailor each practicum position to a student’s training goals and requirements. The clinic’s practicum placements vary by the requirements of each student’s program and positions typically range from 20 to 28 hours a week, with many practicum students working 2 evenings a week and/or on Saturdays to accommodate client needs. Practicum placements typically last from September to May or August of an academic year.

  • Individual Supervision with Primary and Secondary Supervisors
  • Group Supervision with Multidisciplinary Staff

Practicum Program Application Process

  • Application materials are accepted January 11 to February 1 for a September start date. 
  • To apply for a practicum placement, email your CV, cover letter, and list of three professional references to the Training Director, Dr. Sarah Atkins (satkins@clubrecoveryllc.com). Within your CV please highlight relevant educational and employment experience. Cover letters need to include the type of degree program you are in, broadly outline your training goals, and describe your sense of fit within the site. Please also include completion of the prerequisite courses including ethics, counseling theories, and psychopathology. 
  • Materials will be reviewed in January and February. Applications are reviewed in the order they are received and interviews are offered to the most qualified candidates. Interviews are typically conducted individually with the Training Director and a staff member.
