I believe that at the forefront of therapy is connection. I work with individuals to collaborate in setting goals, identifying strengths, and exploring themselves. My approach to therapy is rooted in person-centered, relational, and psychodynamic theories and integrates cognitive-behavioral theory (CBT) techniques. I find it important to meet individuals where they are and foster connection through a warm and non-judgmental relationship.
One of my areas of specialty includes working with individuals experiencing co-occurring concerns - those who are navigating substance use alongside mood disorders, anxiety and worry, and/or trauma symptoms. Many of my clients experience stress associated with the legal system, and an essential foundation of my work is supporting them as they cope with the overwhelm and uncertainty that can be connected to this stressor. Often, I work with clients navigating challenging life transitions such as work changes, relocation/moving to different city/state, marriage, or divorce. I approach my clients with compassion and curiosity and guide them in exploring and developing an understanding of the relationship between their substance use and mental health and discovering how the two shape each other. With this understanding, clients can begin to make small, intentional changes in their life that are most important to them. Substance use and behavioral addictions often impact a whole family system, and I enjoy working with individuals who have a partner or spouse, parent, or other loved one experiencing addiction.
At Club Recovery, I provide support through individual therapy and facilitating the in-person continuing care group. I earned a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a clinical emphasis in Co-Occurring Disorders.
