Nicole Melzer, LADC
Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor
I find incredible purpose in being a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I use motivational interviewing to help guide clients to reconnect with their reasons for choosing sobriety and to develop practical skills that foster resilience, confidence, and lasting change. As a person in long-term recovery, I bring clinical skills as well as lived experience to my practice. Addiction asks us to give up everything for it. Recovery asks us to give up one thing and in return, we get to be active participants in our lives.
I received my degree from Metro State University in 2021 after completing 880 internship hours at Chisago County Jail, where I gained insight into diverse pathways to recovery. I also volunteer at Shakopee Women’s prison, supporting women in their journey toward healthier lives. My favorite saying is – “your life isn’t a dress rehearsal; how do you want to show up for yourself?”
I recently joined Club Recovery as an LADC and facilitate the mixed evening IOP treatment group. I appreciate the professionalism and client centered care I have found here. I am honored to walk alongside my clients as they make progress towards reclaiming their lives.
